General Info:

 

  • All classes start at 5pm on the scheduled day.

  • Please pre-wash and pre-cut your fabrics before class. (Exception: the basic t-shirt and child-sized raglan shirt have neckbands which are best cut during the class)​

  • Classes run anywhere from 1-2 hours generally, but they basically run as long as is needed for everyone to finish their projects.

  • For the kids’ classes, parents are more than welcome to stay and watch, or participate! These classes take anywhere from 45 minutes to 1.5 hours usually.

  • There are 4 sewing machines and 2 sergers available to be used for classes, but if you have a machine please feel free to bring it! Sometimes it is easier to learn on a machine you are familiar with.

  • Classes are $30 plus materials, $20 for kids. If you buy the fabric at the store you get 15% off!

Scrunchies - easy

 

This is the easiest class for kids! They will learn basic sewing machine operating and straight stitching. They will also learn how to run elastic through casings. We make a few scrunchies in each class.

Lined Tote Bag

 

The tote bag is a great project for beginners. It covers basic skills such as pinning, interfacing use, topstitching, boxing corners, and turning, as well as basic sewing machine use.

Pillowcase - easy

 

In the pillowcase class, kids will learn basic straight stitches on a sewing machine, as well as learning how to pin or clip fabric together, turn things right side out after sewing, and general sewing machine skills.

Good beginner class for kids aged 6+

Cocoon Cardigan

 

The cardigan is made using knit fabrics. It’s a simple project, great for people who haven’t sewn with knits much. There is the option of using a serger in this class. The pattern is customizable in a few ways such as length, sleeve lengths, and 2 styles of pockets.      

Basic Tote Bag - easy

 

In the tote bag class, kids will learn basic straight stitches and how to hem things as well, as learning how to pin or clip fabric together, turn things right side out after sewing, and general sewing machine skills. They will also learn how to do French seams.

Leggings

 

The leggings are made with knit fabrics. They are a simple project, great for people who haven’t sewn with knits much. There is the option of using a serger in this class. The pattern is customizable in length and features a yoga style waistband.

Basic Women’s T-Shirt

 

The shirt is also a simple project, great for people who haven’t sewn with knits much. There is the option of using a serger in this class. This is just a very basic shirt with short sleeves and a scoop neck with a neckband.

Elastic Waist Skirt - easy

 

In the skirt class, kids will learn basic straight stitches and how to hem things, as well as learning how to pin or clip fabric together, turn things right side out after sewing, and general sewing machine skills. They will also learn how to do French seams.

Reversible Apron – medium

 

In this class the students will learn how to make a reversible apron with ribbon ties. Some good sewing skills are needed for this class as it involves some long straight topstitching.

Child-Sized Raglan Shirt

 

Another good knit fabric project! Raglan sleeves are easier to sew than traditional sleeves, so this is a good beginner class. There is the option of using a serger in this class. The pattern provided includes sizes 18 months up to 10 years.

Emoji Face Pillow - challenging

 

This is a fun project made with felt! The kids will learn basic appliqué skills in this class, as well as how to make an easy pillow. For this class, the child should have pretty steady sewing skills as it’s a bit tricky to sew on the face pieces.

Child-Sized Leggings

 

The leggings are made with knit fabrics. They are a simple project, great for people who haven’t sewn with knits much. There is the option of using a serger in this class. The pattern includes sizes 18 months to 12 years.

Pajama Shorts – Challenging

 

In this class, the children will make comfy cotton pj shorts. There are some curved seams and a few hems in this project, so it’s a more advanced sewing project.

Reading Pillow – Challenging

 

This project is an envelope style pillow cover with a pocket on the front for a book. This is a more complicated project for advanced sewers. There is some hemming and topstitching, as well as assembling the pillow cover and sewing in a handle.
